What Drives Success

The Tool & Die Maker’s primary function is design, build, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot tooling, dies, fixtures, and precision components used in the manufacturing process. This position supports production by ensuring tooling is safe, accurate, and operating efficiently.

 

Job Duties:

  1. Design, build, modify, and repair tooling, dies, fixtures, and machine components from engineering drawings, CAD files, or sample parts.
  2. Diagnose tooling issues and perform repairs to minimize production downtime.
  3. Manufacture precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, punches, and machine components.
  4. Support Engineering with prototype tooling, product development, and process improvements.
  5. Perform precision grinding, milling, turning, drilling, and machining operations.
  6. Inspect completed tooling using precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  7. Set up, adjust, and test tooling prior to production.
  8. Operate manual machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and power presses.
  9. Maintain tooling records and communicate repair recommendations.
  10. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  11. Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Working understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD prints, and GD&T.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, and gauges.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.

What We Are Looking For

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship or equivalent technical training preferred.
  • Tool & Die Maker certification preferred.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of Tool & Die Maker experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating manual machine shop equipment.
  • Experience repairing progressive, compound, and forming dies preferred.
  • Experience working with stamping operations is highly desirable.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings and machining precision components.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and work around manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity required to operate precision machine tools.
  • Ability to distinguish small measurements and details.
  • Ability to work safely around moving mechanical equipment.

What We Offer

Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $25.00– $36.00 /hour. Factors that may affect starting pay include geography/market, and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).

Depending on date of hire, and subject to applicable eligibility requirements, new employees in this role also receive up to: 10 days paid time off, 12 paid holidays, and 3 floating holidays per year.
